Come Lord Jesus Come

Here are some of the writings and prayers that came out of the Chiang Mai prayer room during our 80 hours. There will be more I will post up over the week. Please send us your reflections and prayers too from wherever you were praying. Thanks for everyone who helped put this together and for all those who prayed. Thanks God that you hear our prayers and care! Come Lord Jesus come!!

Send forth your light, Lord Jesus!!! Dispel the darkness, for the light has overcome the darkness. May God arise! May his enemies be scattered! The light SHINES in the darkness.

God Almighty- flood the nation of Burma with grace and truth. Set the captives free. Raise up those who will preach to the oppressors, that their hearts would break and set the people of Burma free.

And He said, ‘What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground.’ Gen 4:10

A letter to Burma (And God):
Dear Burma,
You with your gold, your piles of wealth; you with your fertile land and your subterranean wealth of gas, oil, gems and so many precious things; you with people who stand out as beautiful, whose smiles captivate and culture intrigues, when will your air be clear of the saturated evil, the human brutality, the criminal leadership? When?
For your people I pray. Take your wealth and rivers, take it all. I ask for your people. Let them go home to their fields. Let them farm and produce. Allow them their bodies, their sandals, and their sarongs. Please? Shatter the climate of oppression and allow the sun to set. Bring a new day, a rising sun, the morning dew, so that mercy has its moment. Allow a shower of justice.
Meeting you has forever changed my life. How could I meet the sheer beauty of your people, see their suffering and loss, and remain unmoved? Without you I would be less a man. You have redefined my faith, my values, my ideas of justice and freedom. You have given me something worth dying for- more than this; you have given me something worth living for. So Burma, I am grateful for that gift.
The men who hold reign on you are evil. Please compel them to repent. Please offer them the invitation to mercy once again. If they fail to hear and continue their destructive course, please open the bowels of the earth and swallow them. Show them a little Old Testament muscle please. There are so many things I wish to say, but suffice it to say this one last thing: please bring justice and mercy to your land.

“Thankyou Jesus, that the baby we thought had died is still alive!
Thankyou for life: that you sustain it, that you will it, that you will one day make it new!
Thankyou for this one life you keep breathing into!”

Lord, just as you multiplied the loaves and fishes, please multiply the prayers, time, gifts, medicine, food, clothing etc given for this work and let these bring comfort to more people than we could even hope or imagine.
(Ephesians 3.20- Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.)

Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke. Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter- when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood. Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard. Isaiah 53:6-8
Come Lord Jesus to this scorched land, in your power and might!

Are you somehow deaf?
Because you don’t seem to hear the screams, and the cries and the prayers, the desperate, urgent prayers…
And God, are you unable to speak?
Because the refreshing waters of your truth, and your peace, the weak and down trodden would love to hear. But where is your beautiful voice when they are hunted down by merciless men?
I am in Pain.
I am pained that you are so slow to act. I am pained that I think of you as Grace…I know of you as Grace…but you seem to be giving it to these desperate people in a meager teaspoonful….when they need buckets.
I am angry.
Because I have prayed, many have prayed…
And you have been slow.
Because you promised to respond to our pleading, but you are too slow to save young innocents…
Deliver them!! God, deliver them!
Not into the hands of their enemies, not on a plate like John the Baptist.
But please deliver them like a beautiful gift into the hands of peace.
We are small.
We will never know the bigger picture of what you are doing.
But we challenge you God!
Save your people, hear our prayers, listen to our hearts and God have mercy on your little ones!!

With God the mastermind of the universe on our side, we say…
“Your days are numbered evil warlords of Burma.
Don’t you know evil reaps evil,
And that all evil dictatorships come to an end one day”

Oh Lord may that day be soon.

Enough is enough Lord.
Enough mother’s hearts broken
Enough children innocence shattered
Enough young lives wasted by landmines
Oh Lord may that day be soon

Until then Lord may the good in the hearts of the Karen, the Shan, the persecuted, the homeless, reap more good in their lives, in their land.
Until the day when good overcomes evil
Until the day the world will rejoice with us all,
That Burma is at last the land of the free and the healing journey may begin.

Cambodia has seen it, let Burma see it too Lord.
We plead with you Lord
May that day be soon.

The ones that have suffered the most I pray you will heal their wounds, keep them safe from danger and harm, they are blest, I pray now and forever that you keep Burma safe…. Amen.

Lord help us to not be ambivalent or apathetic to the needs of the poor, the oppressed, the hurting…lead us to pray, to serve, to give!...To not only love those suffering, but all the unlovable, those who do evil. Lord hear our prayers!
